Purge mode + Pyrex for Sale

I don't know I I manage it but I tend to accumulate stuff.  Well this ends in 2013!

In the words of THM "I don't need anymore toys".

Yes he said that.  Makes me so proud.

In efforts to keep my sanity I'm gonna do a full purge all 2013. Each month I will set a goal and keep to that goal.

January is full purge month.  Look at everything in my life and see what I love, like and hate.

This means yes I will selling some Pyrex off.  I will be trying on my fat pants and throwing them out.  I will be trying to finish some UFO (unfinished objects).  I'm gonna try not to go into the thrift stores when I donate. Or just window shop.

Here is some Pyrex I I will be selling.  Feel free to email me if you want it.  (no chips or cracks in any, but some scratches, flea bites and marks, remember these are used and vintage.)

Keep an eye out. Each will have its own blog post in the furture with pictures!

Spring blossom butter dish $7 plus shipping

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from my new computer!

Thank you to THH for getting me a nice new to me apple.  Our old one really was about ready to die.It is so old. I am a very happy camper.

Speaking of THH. I am the luckiest person to have a very wonderful mother in law. She is so sweet.

For christmas she got me Pyrex. Man does she know the way to make her daughter in law and therefore make her son happy!

She got me Sandalwood 444 and 441. I don't have any in this pattern and hope to complete the set. It is really pretty in person. I had never seen it in person. The simplicity of it is nice.

She also got me a Terra 403. I love 403 sizes. It is perfect for a small batch of cupcakes. I like terra too. The matte black contrasts so great with the brown stripes.

The only other pyrex I got is from my brother's girlfriend's mother. While down at her house on Christmas eve I spotted in her cubbard (cause I am weird and look in peoples cub bards, lock your bathroom! LOL) A Pyrex Flameware Double Boiler. I have wanted one of these ever since I saw them. I just love it. And yes I often find myself using a bowl and pot for a double boiler. Sucks since I am clumsy and tend to get chocolate everywhere. Anyways I said something to her and it came home with it. She told me she had been debating weather or not to give it to me. I owe her big time.

A little micro secret.

Can I tell you a secret?

Yes I can but I don't think you will keep it to yourself.

I don't own a microwave.

I know weird huh?

We did at one time. It got gross and the coating inside started to chip so I freecycled that sucker and we have been microwave free for over 2 years.

Food tastes so much better reheated in the oven. I no longer wax my eyebrows. (Grew them out and maintenance tweeze) An I use my drier when I want to heat up my rice packs.

I'm a rebel from the convince housewives take for granted.

And no I don't own a toaster oven rather and have been debating getting rid of the plain ole toaster too.

Kiss my ass nasty microwaves of the world! And nasty BPA leakage.

WW: Don Juan

Wordless Wednesday
(not really all that wordless)

We have a dog. Don Juan De Marco
Worlds Greatest Lover
Yes we named him after the Worlds Greatest Lover.
He is a chihuahua. We got him summer of 2004 in Orlando Florida at the county pound. Not the loving kind shelter.  the "kill" type shelter. I felt bad for him.  It took us quite some time to find a dog. I had just moved out of my parents house, across the country (from MI to FL) and I needed a dog. At least I thought so. THH did not think so but he loves me and what I say goes. (most of the time)

Okay not of the dog, but THM loves his dog and loved the dog food. 2009
And today, those 2 are like peas and carrots. 2012

Most of this pictures are crappy ones, I need to find my old cards and get some of the better resolution ones.

Allie Asshole Reactions

According to the 4yo of the house:

Santa; noun, guy who gives gifts to kids and lives down the street. Wears a red suit and a hat. Has reindeer.

Allie Asshole; noun, dumb doll that mom put in different places at night.

He isn't buying it. He thinks mom does everything. Well he is right but I am not going to tell him that. I want to have the fun. I want him to be good.

So here are the few last nights and the reactions.

Allie messing with his toothbrush

Reaction: Whip him out of the bathroom and proclaim that mom messed with his stuff.

Allie Asshole eating candy and watching tv (and forgot to plug in the wii remote!)

Reaction: Mommy ate all my candy. Elf was thrown in his room and the candy wrappers were on the floor. He was mad the remote wouldn't work.

Allie Asshole making out with his new moose ball spitter

Reaction:  Moose was thrown on the couch and elf as thrown in his room.  I heard a grunt and a "mom did it."

Allie Asshole in bed with his dogs

Reaction: "WHY!!!"

Christmas pjs

Every year for Christmas I get or make THM pjs. I allow him to open them christmas eve so he has new pjs to wear in Christmas morning pictures.

This year while hitting up one of my local thrift stores I came across a set of Care Bear fabric. It had along with it 3 pillow shams for infants.

As a child my mother made my doll little quilts from pillow case fabric that she embroidered. I still have one and it sits on THM's bed. He also had my childhood doll.

So this year I made him a set from Care Bears fabric.  I used part of a white t-shirt of THH.
Pillow sham on tip and quilt on bottom
I made a quilt and small sham for him and his baby. These too will be opened on Christmas eve. A little something special for the one that holds my heart.

I am very excited to give them to him. Come on Christmas!

Green onions toddler activity 2

Guess what? It is working! The onions are growing back. Who flipping knew!

It has been fun to see the growth. They are growing really fast. Sorta creepy seeing the white roots all spider like and hanging out in the water.

THM is enjoying it too. He will drag anyone into the kitchen to look at it. He has showed THH about a dozen times over the last 5 days.

I have a stalk of celery ion the fridge. I have heard they regrow too. We are try that next.

Science is pretty damn fascinating!

Allie the asshole night 1 reaction.

THM woke up and found Allie playing with his cars.

He promptly picked her up and threw her across the room saying "mommy did it"(it- placed her there)

We came home from breakfast and there she was again playing with his cars. I had put her there when he was putting on his shoes about to head out.

He was not amused.

Tonight she is hanging out in his Christmas tree in his room. His brand new green tree. Lets see his reaction tomorrow when he goes to turn it on.

Allie the elf.

Santa came by this morning.

Yes we so Santa. Shoot me.

Anyways THM hates the idea of the elf. I on the other hand love it.

THM also hates when people touch his stuff. And told dad to leave his cars out tonight. We don't dare touch them.

Allie on the other hand is an asshole.

So introducing "Allie Asshole"

Happy Thanksgiving! (with recipe!)

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We had a wonderful day at home cooking, playing and watching movies. It was so nice just to relax, even though I did all the cooking, with the help of 4yo THM.  He helped me make pie and deviled eggs. He also helped with the turkey but wouldn't touch it. I don't blame him.  The first Thanksgiving I made a turkey I had to talk to myself for 30 minutes, call my mom and freak out, all overt having to put my hand up the turkey's ass.

I can now do that step freak-out free. *insert very proud smirk on face here*

I of course got to use some of my awesome Pyrex.

We made chocolate pie. I always make a chocolate pie. Why? because it is my dads favorite.  He passed in 2008. I miss him and I always like to have a little something to remember him. Even though I don't think I ever spent a Thanksgiving with him after my mom and him got divorced.

Not Pyrex, but one of my FireKing pieces. I have used for about 7 years now. Also there is green bean casserole in the orange Autumn Harvest Pyrex. Yummy.
Look at all that Yummyness.  Our meal is fairly traditional.

Still no clue about this plastic butter dish. Anyone?

And  my big surpise to myself this year was the sweet potato casserole (in Woodland 503).  I don't care for sweet things, but this was really good. Now it was very rich and I think I will put the recipe in my book. Want the recipe I used?
1 (29 ounce) can sweet potato's (yams), drained
1/4 plus about t heaping tablespoon  cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 teaspoon salt (wing it, I did)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (or just throw whatever in, I did)
3/4 (I beat the egg then eyed it while pouring it in)
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 bag miniature marshmallows (I used maybe half, but look at my poor thing above!)

Heat oven to 350F

Mash yams in a large bowl and add brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, egg, and melted butter.
Mix well.
Top with a layer of marshmallows

Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and top with remaining marshmallows if like yours, my marshmallows have melted and look pitiful.

I even got THH to help me out (and he shaved his facial hair, it looks awful  here!)

And I am not going Black Friday Shopping! First time in 3 years. I don't need anything.

Toddler activity 2

I'm always looking for things to make my son learn by doing. We did the Baggie of herbs in the window. Worked great.

I had buy green onions for a dish THH likes. Remembering that I once saw you could regrow them I googled and found out how. If you have never heard about it lucky you can learn with us.

All you need is:
Green onions, cut to about the white part

You put the opinions in the jar, full it slightly with water.

Keep it watered and they should grow. Simple enough right? Lets hope it works.

RIP sidekick.

Tuesday I was riding my bike. I was headed to the grocery store to return "the Lorax" redbox. We have a small section of road known as "retro row."  it is normally packed and full of traffic. I was crossing the street when .....

My bag, holding my keys, phone, redbox, extra bag and wallet, got stuck between the tire and the thing that holds the tire on. This made me stop suddenly, fly forward, into the handle bars. My bag of stuff broke open.

I hurried and picked everything up and backed out of the middle of the road. As I composed myself, (as I was utterly humiliated) I checked to make sure I had everything.

Keys   ----- check
Wallet ----- check
redbox ---- check
extra bag - check
phone ----- check....... ummmmmmmm

This is my phone now.

Sorta looks like a peacock.

RIP sidekick, you won't really be missed as you were giving me problems.  I am glad you broke in a way that you cannot be fixed and are totally unusable.

Since I am trying to get a job I cannot be without a phone. So I had to use some savings and get a new phone. And since I have always saved and saved I bought myself the phone I wanted.  Well almost, I settled for a 3gs Iphone. (would of loved to have a 4S but I didn't want to spend that much)

I'm a happy camper now. Except only 4 of my contacts were saved to my SIM, but at least the most important one was there.

Christmas from the trash: T2T 1

My little profile thing over there says I dig though trash.  Yes I do.  I'm pretty proud of it too.  No I don't eat from the trash, I find stuff in trash or by the trash. Trash to Treasure is awesome (T2T)

Last Tuesday after I picked up THM from school we grabbed the wagon and left the house to walk to the grocery store.  It is about half a mile away but I like the walk and it is good for both of us.  Well we went past 1 alley not even a block away and I saw a huge pile of stuff.

Score! I headed over, THM following.  What was in this pile?

Snowman candle thingie.  Kohls sticker on bottom priced $14.99.
Welcome sign with Snowmen

Normal Rockwell ornaments from 1999.  Set of 3   Retail $12.95 each
Christams hurricane vases, in box
Dino ornaments,  in box. Set of 2.

2 packs of 2 kites
Valentine baggies, new in package
2 fishing poles
1 new in box helmet, fits THM and was a need, since he just outgrew his old one! Best score of the day.

What stayed behind: fake tree, small Christmas candle holders, random dolls, random toys, life jackets, Easter decorations, bag of holiday bows and much more.

While we were checking the stuff out a lady parked and said "take what you like, I just put it out". I told her thanks, it was awesome to have such a great neighbor.

THM was so excited over the helmet and fishing polls. This beats thrifting somedays.  Yay for free stuff.  Trash to treasure, why yes!

A few I've traded.

Us Pyrex lovers have a thing.  We get to the point we have extra that we buy in order to trade for pieces we want. I've done this a few times.

So far I have trades a Butterprint bowl. (no picture)

A set of butterfly gold glasses.

A homestead lid for the 045 and the 441 Cinderella bowl are hopefully going to a new home.

The homestead is the speckle lid.  I'm keeping:  A 024 lid. The lid to my Butterfly Gold 045 (already had bottom) and a Gemco pink toothpick holder. Those were my scores of the day.

441 Homestead
In trade I got:

The 503 (large) to complete my set of Butterprint fridgies.

The spring blossom 045 bottom, reunited with its lid.  See I knew there was always a reason to buy those extra odd lids.

And yet to be determined for the homestead bowl and lid.

I only do local trades though. Because shipping is so high. It is nice that way I don't fear breakage or lost (or never sent) packages.

I have a few other ones I am looking to trade.  A spring blossom square baker and a pink 024 no lid.  Maybe if you are in the LA/OC area you would want to trade?

Happy 8th anniversary!

Happy 8th Anniversary!

Of what you may ask, not this blog.

Of me being on ebay. Why do I bring this up you ask. Because I bought something off ebay Sunday.

I got a turquoise open baker and divided dish. It was cheap and the seller agreed to local pickup. I love local pickups. I get my items fast and I do not have to worry about them breaking. And it keeps my costs down.

When I went to pick them up I stayed and chit chatted with the seller, who also is a collector. This gets me back to the point here. She said "you must be new on ebay. You don't have much feed back."

LOL I just got an email a few days ago form ebay. I have been a member for 8 years. And I only have 24 feedback. Yes I rarely buy on ebay.

The open baker.  Same size as the divided but no divider. Not common.
Anyways I am happy to find another local with the same passion, who is so nice and friendly in this very unfriendly city.

The divided.

My sets of snowflakes are coming along nicely. Still need a few but I am sure they will come to me one day.

One is for my mom. I also have some Black.

I need my hubby to bring me a better camera from work. They are very very turquoise, my phone camera just won't pick that up!

Monday, October 22, 2012

I got to do a little shopping with OLL last weekend. It was nice to get out of the house and gossip and chit chat.

We hit up SA and VV (value village).

I manged to find a second 043 Snowflake.  Going to give it to my mom. She loves snow. Also found this really ugly butter dish. I mean it is U-G-L-Y!!!! But it is fun. The clear dish is another little find. It is federal glass. With fruits on the lid. THM Also conned me into getting him a Christmas Snow globe.  It is from The San Francisco Music Box Company. Very beautiful.

Same SA I found the white snowflake. I was looking over the counter at the piles off stuff and spotted it stashed in a corner of junk. I asked the lady "Can I have that white dish?" She said "You wanna look at it?" I said "No I want it."  I didn't even need to look at it. I knew it was gonna come home with me.

The terra is my first. Now this pattern seems to be scratched easy. I liked the size of it and it had the lid. It was half off at VV or I wouldn't have bought it.

I also picked up a duplicate pink 024. My pink is in bad condition and this one is sorta better. VV also had a yellow 023.  It is smaller than the 024 (numbers on bottom).  For half off it came home with me too. Sometimes I like having dwd stuff. They can be my work-horse ones.

Now this little set is adorable. It was so gross though.  The metal stand was brown. I sprayed it with a bit of oven cleaner and it cleaned up very nice. I was pleasantly surprised.  I am going to use it on pancake nights for different flavored syrups.

I had to redo the top of my cabinet. To display my 043 and 045s (Those are numbers on the bottom, each number is a common size of a dish, like the large fridgies are 503s. why? I dono)  I'm trying to get it all organized, but I am running out of room!!!!

Wednesday I am doing a local trade. It is always nice to do trades. Shipping is so expensive though, so local trades are my new friend. I will show you then what I got.

Golden Bouquet

Seems like drought is over!!!!!!!

This week I went out twice.  I'm getting cabin fever.

Plus I had to go to the dollar store for q-tips and oven cleaner.

I wondered into St. Vincents Thrift Store yesterday for a quick look. they rarely have anything in the housewares section worth anything. I have got great clothing there for cheap.  Like the Calvin Klein dress for my date night in December, $5.99, perfect condition. Retails for $139.

Yesterday I got 2 older flameware sauce pans with handles. They have the blue tint to them.  I already used them for making lunch and they are cool.

My first sauce pans.  Not the ones I really want but they were cheap enough.  $2.99 for the small and $3.99 for the larger of the two.

I also came across half an old orchard set. the 402 and 403.  In pretty great condition. They are $6.00 for the two.

Now today I ran into Salvation Army.  Their hours have changed and they are open at 8 now. I quickly spotted the familiar white milk glass. I couldn't see the pattern but saw the blue. I thought it was horizon because it had a shadow over it. When I went around the shelf I saw it was Snowflake. The size I don't have. Awesome!!!!!!! and 25% off.

Then I wondered around, seeing nothing else. Until I spotted the dark blue with gold leaf and lid. Lid is pretty chipped but the bottom is in okay condition. Very dirty but I knew I could clean it.

I got home and looked it up.  It is Golden Bouquet.  Very nice find for being $3.

Now I was hesitant to try oven cleaner. I didn't want the gold leaf to come off. It had some grease on it that didn't come off after a good soak and washing with dish soap.  Magic eraser was out as well as Bar Keepers Friend because I knew the chances of harming the gold were positive. But I had bought some Awesome Orange at the dollar store.  I tried it. I prayed I didn't just destroy it.

Here is a close-up of the pattern

OMG It worked. Got it off easy!!!!!! So now I can add Awesome Orange to my list of cleaners that work. And so can you. Plus it is less smelly that oven cleaner.

I'm pretty happy that maybe my Pyrex luck is coming back.

It has been a while....

Wanna know what I have been up to?

1. I got laid off. BUT don't boowhoo for me. I am having a blast being a SAHM (stay at home mom). I've got my bills paid until April so far since I am a master at managing my money. Looking for a job bites,  but it looks like doing them same thing I was doing I can make more money. Also the change has made me a better person. I am truly happy. Everything happens for a reason right? I gotta stay positive. (stupid housing market, I worked in new housing development. I was the last employee. So I don't feel too bad)

2. Watching my son turn 4. Holy crap is 4 a good age or what? He is learning everything. His memory is outstanding.  He is so excited for Halloween. We have adventures, we spend hours walking and biking and enjoying each other. We had a small party for him at Adventure City.  He got to ride a roller coaster for the first time. He got loads of Super hero stuff. Preschool is going great for him. He has time with his friends and time with me. Our little family is so happy. Happy for the first time in many many years.

3. I don't shop as much. This you can booowhoooooo over.  I do out every once and a while. Nothing much. I window shop. It is okay though. Less junk in my house. I did do a local trade with a woman. I gave her Pyrex, and she gave me some.

4.  My mama came out and visited.  We did shop, but all thrift.  I think we learned so much about each other this time. We bonded.  I miss her.

I hope I can find a job soon. I revamped my resume, it looks awesome now.

But since I have the free time I am living it up. Clean house, happy kid and happy husband.

So I'm back, missed me or not, lots of pyrex to show off.

The butterpint in back was a trade I got. The rest was super cheap and spent less than $10 of my mad money I saved.

Lids and Dots

Words to the wise.  Never leave a lid. Never leave a lidless dish just because it is lidless.

11 lids. Meaning I don't have to leave 11 lidless dishes. I found all of these at goodwill in Corona.

I also found the Strawberry Corelle there. They were marked 20 for $14.99. But there wasn't 20 of them. We looked, hoping to find the plates and bowls. So they repriced them better for me. Since i really only wanted them for the cream and sugar, but I had to take the 4 cups too. I love them.

Now I did buy a knock off piece. Pyr-o-rey platter in the back isn't Pyrex. But it is holiday and I love holiday stuff. It just sorta caught my eye and made me fall in love.

Then I found this:

A Green dots. I don't care for this pattern. Thinking of trading it so selling it. Something has to really spark my interest. Or maybe I will just hang onto it.

He has a new obsession with wearing ties.
